Mt. Seymour Area + My Favorites
For those looking for smooth, easy riding, the Old Buck trail starts at the lowest parking lot and climbs to the upper. In between is 5.5 km easy riding up 670 vertical metres. For people looking for something a bit more difficult, things get problematic. At last word, many of the mountain biking trails inside the provincial park (which were cut illegally) are closed, with stiff fines awaiting people who break the rules. The lower Seymour trails (including the infamous, or at least infamously named, Severed Dick) are outside the park and remain open. Most of the trails in this area are intermediate.
Access:
From Mt. Seymour Parkway, North Vancouver. Park in the Lower Parking lot.

Grouse Mountain + My Favorites
It's eight turns of the screw up Fromme mountain along the Old Grouse Mountain Highway before you actually get to Grouse, and most people don't usually go past the seventh. From here, an infamous bit of trail building-Kirkland's Seventh Secret-takes one of the gnarliest, most difficult routes down the mountain you could ask for. The first (and so far last) time I tried it, I made it about 50 feet before turning around, but not before I had acquired a flat. Fortunately, this area is littered with trails, some easier than others. The Lower area offers easy trail riding for people who haven't done much mountain biking and are looking for a taste of what it's all about. Or, you can bike to the top, then bomb down the gravel road.
Access:
Follow Mountian Highway north to yellow gate. The road continues, gravelled, beyond.
